If you read Genesis 5, you will discover that it lists the ages of all the people that it names. However, the genealogy in Genesis 4 does not list the years of any person. Why? Because this genealogy is the genealogy of the lost. All the persons in Genesis 5 were saved. The saved persons walk in the way of God and, as a result, their days and years are reckoned in His eyes. The lost people, on the contrary, are finished in His sight, and their days and years are not counted before Him.

Genesis 4:14 says, “Now You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground, and from Your face I will be hidden; and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
“If you are a person who does not live in the presence of God, you have no place to live on this earth. The earth was made for the people who live in God’s presence. In Genesis 4:14 the face of the earth is equivalent to the face of God. Thus, if you do not live in the face of God, you are not rightly living on this earth. If you do not live in the presence of God, you are robbing the earth. The earth was not made for those who are against God; it was created for the people who live for God. Therefore, if you have no standing in the face of God, you have no place on the earth. Hence, to be driven out from the face of God is equivalent to being driven out from the face of the earth. Logically speaking, this may not sound correct, but, spiritually speaking, it is accurate. If you are not in the presence of God, you will have the conviction that you have nowhere to go. You will have the sense deep within that you are a wanderer. You would even say, ‘There is no place on earth for me.’ However, when you are in the presence of God, every place is heaven. Every place is so pleasant. No one who lives in the presence of God would ever commit suicide. Only those who have lost God’s presence to the uttermost and who have become vagabonds on the earth, people without a dwelling place, contemplate suicide. Our real dwelling place is the presence of God.”

Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
“All these evil things still remain in us. But as those regenerated by the Lord Jesus, we have the promise that the head of the serpent is being crushed by the seed of the woman, which is Christ Himself. He is now living in us and every day bit by bit the head of the serpent is being crushed. It actually happened at the cross of Christ and it’s worked out in our experience as we pay attention to Christ. We have only one way to escape, and that is by taking care of the seed of the woman, Christ Himself who dwells in us.”

Romans 7:18 says, “For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but to work out the good is not.”
“Not only the Bible says this, but also our experience verifies this. I’ve found sometimes in my experience I have a lot of energy to do something that’s not necessarily sinful, it’s just not of God. If I pick up a newspaper or a secular book to read, I have no problem. I can stay awake, I feel energized. But when I read my Bible and begin to pray, it’s very easy to go to sleep. So I find that I really am weak toward God. This is because, sin dwells in me and that weakens me to the uttermost toward God, even opposes God.”
