“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.”
Galatians 5:22-23
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Galatians 5:16
Keep in Step with the Spirit
"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealously, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another."
Galatians 5:16-25 ESV
Saved Christians find joy in God by producing fruits of the Spirit through him. It is their joy and passion to do so. They are contrite when they do works of the flesh, when they fall into an old sin that Christ saved them from.
Fake Christians are not contrite when they sin against God, their hearts long to fulfill works of the flesh. Christ calls us to deny ourselves, to deny our fleshly passions and to crucify our flesh. This means if you truly love God you will stop watching porn, stop having premarital sex and orgies. You will turn from practicing witchcraft for God's sake, you will deny the desire to be romantically involved with a person of the same sex as you, you will turn from wanting to be a different gender from the one that God made you to be.
It can, and often will be, hard to repent of these sins (I once had an addiction to porn and it took a lot of time, effort, and guidance from God to finally stop). But Christ's grace is sufficient for us. He will give us to strength overcome these sins that plague our hearts.
May the Love of God the Father, the Grace of God the Son, and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with each one of us now and forever, Amen.
Galatians 3:28
"Your life is not defined by the approval of others, but of God.
Live for an audience of one."
Galatians 1:10
