Putting the Active in Activism with Edgars UNiTE Orange Run I am super proud to take part in an initiative that aims to create awareness around gender-based violence. The Edgars UNiTE Orange Run, in partnership with UN Women, the Gauteng Departments of Social Development & Community Safety, and the South African Fashion Council, has launched an amazing campaign that breaks the silence on violence against women and young girls. This initiative supports women survivors by helping developing their skills in the fashion industry; this is done through various workshops as well as accredited training courses. This fully equips the women in the job market; they become self-sufficient and have a chance at reclaiming their own power and dignity. As 16 Days of Activism is upon us, join me and Edgars in a couple of weeks for the 6km Orange Run which will be happening at Mushroom Park, Sandton, 2.12.2017. It’s a great way to get out in the sun and pledge your support towards the campaign against gender based violence. Tickets are R120 per person, and every participant will receive a goodie bag. The first 8000 entries will receive the official Edgars UNiTE Orange Run T-shirt. Children between the ages of 10 - 12 can participate at no cost. For the younger ones, there is also a dedicated play area. Tickets are open and available at www.orangerun.co.za or in-store at your nearest Edgars.
