She would just quietly slip out of the bed, gather her things, and carry on with her day and the rest of her life like nothing ever happened.

Except that she had slept with Gendry. Her brother's roommate who she sees pretty much every single day and who she now knows is not only extremely fit, and genuinely nice (as much as he would always try to hide it behind furrowed brows and crossed arms), and funny in the best, stupid way… he is also undoubtedly a mind-blowing lay. How was that at all fair?

Shit. She had to get out of there. Really, really had to. Before Jon got home and all hell broke loose. 

Or she did something earth-shatteringly daft like try to fuck Gendry again.

I'm more of a reader, less of a writer, but the prompt for Day 1 of the upcoming Gendrya Week (March 1 to 7) got me. I've re-purposed a drabble from my older fic "Always Remember Us This Way" and expanded it, because !older Gendrya kept pulling at my heartstrings.

The twinge of jealousy. 

The twinge that resonated through her younger years, when she used to believe that she wasn't as pretty as Sansa, or as loved as Bran. But she had been forced to bury those feelings years ago at Braavos, and they never returned to her, aided by Gendry's unwavering love and his pride over her accomplishments, and her own newfound appreciation of what it was to be a woman, to be human; to be herself and to love herself.

And put simply, to love.

He made her feel beautiful. He made her feel wanted. But above all, it was her experiences that made her realise that beauty was only skin deep, and it was the happiness when she was with her love, her Bull, that made her shine from within.

But those twinges of jealousy were chiming somewhere within her today, and she felt ashamed.

Was it a sin to be envious of one's own daughter?

Gendry looked at her and she nodded her head, “She is all yours Prince Oberyn, but only for the one dance.”

Prince Oberyn laughed, “I would never try to break up such a lovely couple.”

Gendry nodded and walked off, he joined his uncles by a table and accepted a glass of wine. 

“I will be leaving shortly. I just wanted to make sure we had a proper chance to talk before I do.” Prince Oberyn said.

“Missing Dorne?” She questioned.

“My daughters mostly, they are a wild bunch and shouldn’t be left unsupervised for too long. Besides, I have come to the capitol to do what I needed, no reason for me to stay.”

If Gendry had thought he’d felt a bit drunk before, it was nothing compared to now. Arya Stark was kissing him, with her tongue in his mouth and her fingers tugging on the hair at the back of his neck, each little pull sending his blood rushing south. His hands were restless, wanting to touch her everywhere at once and unable to make up his mind. He needed her closer, though - that, at least, he was sure of. Reluctantly, he pulled away (and fuck if the way she seemed to almost chase his lips didn’t go straight to his cock) before grabbing her by the waist and lifting her onto his lap.

The team goes to Nationals! My, what an exciting day!

He couldn’t count the number of hours they had spent working on this. Not just their standard practice time; it was far more than that, if you counted how often they stayed late (an alarming amount in the past month as Nationals crept closer and closer). Countless hours. And they had one chance, for less than three minutes, and then it would all be over.

And it could all have been for nothing, if he didn’t do everything right.

Why did anyone voluntarily want to do this?

He was contemplating asking somebody to construct a time machine, and take him back to August, and tell him that this was a terrible idea -

But then Podrick was tapping him on the shoulder, and he pulled his headphones off, and…

It was time.

Back on my bullshit with a new modern AU... 💦❤️ distracting myself from the last chapter of Stretch and Release 😇

Untangling herself from his limbs proved to be more difficult than she had anticipated. Her progress was likely hindered by the fact that a large part of her didn’t really want to leave, a large part of her wanted to stay right where she was and go over last night’s activities with her sober goggles and some lights on so she could really and truly appreciate everything - but no. That was not an option.

When she tried to scoot away, he made a small whining sound (one that she would just love to mock him for later if only she weren’t too busy pretending this never happened and possibly avoiding him for all of eternity), slid his hand down around her waist and pressed her flush against him again. He let out a peaceful little sigh and seemed perfectly content to just keep on sleeping, despite the fact that she was having a crisis beside him and realizing that the longer she lay there frozen, the higher the chance of Jon coming home and catching them was. The drama and brooding and ‘broken bro-code’ discussions that would ensue were just not on her list of things she had the patience to deal with today.

The less people who knew, the better, because it would just complicate things, and it wasn’t a big deal anyway. She was a little bit drunk, too, so really, it basically didn’t even count. Reassured by this fortifying thought, she crawled into the bed beside him and passed out in record time.

(And if she woke up, some time later, with his head between her legs, as he told her, in between her quivering gasps, how good she looked in his shirt, before he had her again -

Well, her head was spinning, so that meant she was probably still tipsy, right? But just in case - best to not mention it. Because if they didn’t talk about it, then it definitely didn’t count.)
