Re: General White’s Rebellion
So, I’ve been thinking about Once Upon a Time (In Space) recently, and there’s something that been bouncing around my brain and I haven’t really seen anyone mention, which either means it’s really obvious or I’m a genius.
General White’s rebellion is not a revolution.
It’s a civil war between two politicians with personal vendettas against one another, not ideological differences. While, yes, Snow is established to be a pacifist, that doesn’t really spread out into her rebellion, because it’s about her anger, not her politics.
Now, of course, Snow and Cole are very different leaders with different ideologies, and this is part of the story, their conflict is personal, which is a really great historical approach, since so many civil wars in history come from two parties with very similar tactics or philosophies, but with a few key differences that make them incompatible. Remember, Snow was a noblewoman, and a courtier before she was a General. She wants to dethrone Cole, not break the wheel.
