Brad Colbert's Toxic Traits Head Canons
Most people head canon that brad is insecure because of his past relationship
While I think that to be true, it’s not to the extent that others make it out to be
He’s definitely self conscious, and that makes it hard for him to put himself out there.
But he has a good social life, even outside of the marine core but he’s overall still very shy.
But with that being said, Brad is a quiet and reserved person.
He enjoys his personal space and his free time and prefers to be alone with his gadgets than with other people.
Which leads to some arguments between the two of you regarding his absence
He locks himself away and disappears from the relationship at times
And that makes you feel unloved, like he doesn’t enjoy spending time with you
And when you try to talk to him about it, he’s dismissive
Not completely taking your concerns to heart
He doesn’t understand why you can’t just find something else to do when he’s like this
But you enjoy doing things with him, your partners after all
And so, argument after argument, nothing changes, and he still locks himself away and avoids you
It takes you pulling the same moves on him as he does you to make him realize that he might be in the wrong
You do it subconsciously, deciding that if he wants to spend more time away from you, you’ll put that time too good use
You start spending more time with your friends, staying over at their houses, going out to bars, doing things by yourself
Brad finally starts to notice when the house gets quieter
No music, no tv, no footsteps, the house is silent.
And he hates it, and that’s when he realizes how it feels to be you
He understands now, he spends the rest of the day stewing over what he’s going to say to you
And when you get home later, after spending the day shopping and enjoying time with friends
You find him sitting quietly on the couch, locked in on the edge of the coffee table with a stone-cold expression.
When he finally hears you in the house, he shoots straight up and looks at you
Before you can ask him if he’s alright, he say “I’m sorry”
And he dives directly into the speech he has been meticulously planning all afternoon.
By the time he’s done, your quietly laughing
Not at what he said but at how cute he looks when he’s so concentrated on making things right.
You two spend time talking and working out how to fix this problem.
Brad still enjoys his quiet time, personal time is important after all
But he spends a majority of his time now with you, and he kicks himself for missing so much in the past
