Why I’m not OK with “OK, boomer”
Watching the show Mrs. America and I realized, the people fighting FOR and against women's/black rights were boomers!!! Problem is, as the show will later demonstrate, the hippie-souls couldn’t win all their political battles. But yeah, boomers were **plenty** divided. We can’t judge all boomers as it they were/are all the same!!! They too had their conservatives, their liberals, their cynics, and their hopefuls.
We, the new youth, stand on the shoulders of giants. With the power of the internet we have brought a fresh, new fervor to what the hippie, pot loving boomers had kicked off.
Several of the things we young liberals fight for are things liberal boomers (and then Gen X) tried to get. We can hate boomers all we want, but the truth is they're the reason we got Roe v Wade, AKA liberty to choose to have an abortion without “excessive government restriction.” Was it perfect? Nope. But it was a major start! In some ways, we're JUST like liberal baby boomers by saying “Ok, boomer.” There are reports baby boomers chanting “Don't Trust Anyone Over 30!” during the Vietnam War
Like us, and like any generation, the boomers were a diverse lot. There’s plenty to hate about ANY generation. And plenty to love. And plenty to appreciate but improve upon.
