Birth of the Universe

Who saw the birth of the universe? The Big Bang theory tells us that our universe was born in chaos, and the universe's beginning was really an unfolding, or creation, of matter, energy, time - and space itself. Some questions defy easy answers, particularly when it comes to the origin of our universe. Did the Big Bang happen 13.8 billion years ago, and if so, who exactly was there to report on it? We can readily see and study the results of this massive explosion; we can observe galaxies and quasars light-years distant and deep within Earth’s own geology.

The images change almost imperceptibly slowly, and are accompanied by low volume music, creating a meditative or hypnotic mood.

The work extends the concept also shown in Eno’s interest in Generative Music – combining both controlled and also unpredictable elements into a system.
