god he is so fucking tired of all this ‘ resetting ‘ bullshit. so many runs, so many moments of questioning his own sanity; he didn’t know how much more he could handle. but he knows that, yet again, there is no other option. they must reset again. he must realize the timelines again. he must remember the s l a u g h t e r s all over again. it has to happen --

so that hopefully, they can get it right. 

sweat beads down his skull. he can’t tell if it’s from anxiety or anger, but at this point does it matter ?? in a matter of seconds he will back to his room, awaiting another timeline run. his anxieties will be wiped for at least a moment ( one of the only perks of this ).

Vee snickers, a dimply smile on their cheeks; bitter with poison, sweet with genuine laughter that creeps through their smirk. Why can’t they make any normal relationships? They lean forward, toes arched in a confident stance - still shorter than their alternate, but it doesn’t matter. A fleeting thought visibly crosses through Vee’s mind, and they falter slightly in their pose.

            So they lingered together, locked in an endless feedback loop which always ended the very same way--in nothing. There was nothing at the end of it all. Only darkness, only the inevitable certainty that time would reset, that the day would begin again, that the surface was a dream cradled on a string at the end of a stick. The quiet visage of the former scientist rippled at the edge of the dust laden crags of the fading timeline, frowning, drawing his disembodied hands along the sides of his horrified (and malleable) features. He could not scream, though it certainly looked as though he had been--and had been for a long time.

Instead, the monster spoke in a voice heavy with static, in a warble only broken for the child to understand.
