The old man tutted. “I’ll have you know it’s a very well-known, very real story, full of forbidden love, tragedy, sacrifice, all that good stuff.” He sat back, pipe smoke curling around his face. “Pour us some more tea, boy, and I’ll tell you the story of the charcoal burner and the demon.”

In the spring of 1998, three strangers meet at the peak of Mount Kumotori, and set in motion the righting of past wrongs, the healing of past hurts, and the wheels of fate itself.
Stories often have more truth to them than you think.
And truth is something worth telling.
