part one of my Orb x WHA au!!! These are still very much tentative designs + i haven’t fully thought of their stories yet..

more sketches and some rambling (ft. major orb spoilers and minor wha worldbuilding spoilers) below!

basically. heretics = brimhats, heliocentrism = forbidden magic. maybe there’s a type of forbidden magic that relates to astronomy and the stars; maybe they’re not studying forbidden magic itself, but are instead spreading the truth behind the Day of the Pact (or something related), and freely use forbidden magic as a means to an end? i thought about medical forbidden magic, but that doesn’t exactly line up, so idk.

i don’t have much thought out yet, and the other chars are still WIPs, but in my mind:

- Rafal specializes in light magic, Jolenta in fire

- Nowak is deputy captain of the Knights Moralis (I think Jolenta would know his profession here, since it’d be hard to hide, but maybe she’s apprenticed to another master and is ignorant to the extent of his work)

- Badeni originally works in the Great Hall, until he stumbles upon forbidden magic (maybe from the Tower of Tomes? but would the Tower even let that happen??). since pointed caps don’t give second chances, Badeni leaves the Hall on his own accord, and lives in a small town where he picks up small commissions to make a living. mostly he does his own research though, and doesn’t pick forbidden magic back up until Oczy arrives.

- Albert is apprenticed to his father, who holds info on forbidden magic/The Pact. Adult Rafal (a brimhat) wants that info, and uses the memory erasure spell that erases every memory of magic.
