World Canon: How Albert's company operates internally
Many people outside of the Infinite Alliance learning of what kind of man Albert Du'Galle is would assume that his company is some kind of evil corporation that enslaves its employees or something similar.
They would find themselves very far off the mark once they actually spend some time inside any of GenTech's facilities.
While professionalism and such are still expected of any GenTech employee, the actual atmosphere of the company is quite relaxed. Albert makes sure every employee of the company is paid well and receive generous benefits, all that is required of them is that they work hard and give 100% of their effort in return. As such, employee loyalty and retention are very high despite whatever reputation the company itself may have to outsiders.
GenTech employees will actually tend to get defensive and offended if it is instigated they are working for an "evil" company. Universally, it is agreed that while Albert has questionable morals and can be a little aloof, he treats the employees very well.
Internally, openness is actually widespread. Look closely enough and its not uncommon to see a member of Employee Services chatting with someone from R&D. While not too much information is passed, non research personnel usually still have a general idea of what the current research projects are. Of course, all employees are extremely tight lipped outside the company.
Employees at GenTech also have the rare privilege that instead of being assigned projects, they can choose from a list of projects offered depending on priority. If there is no project that they can fulfill or do not wish to fulfill, they can start up their own once submitting the proper request paperwork.
Not fairly known to outsiders is the rampant amount of betting pools that cycle daily through the employee base, especially at the central facility in Paris. Bets range from how many people their boss ruffles the feathers of, how many visitors get sick after viewing demonstrations, how many instances of self righteousness present themselves in visitors, etc.
Surprisingly, the Board members themselves (Albert included) are not above keeping knowledge on these betting pools, if not actively participating in them or encouraging them. Keeping the employee base relaxed and happy means more production. Within reason of course.
It can be a shock to visitors to see Albert conversing with the front desk admins to know what current betting pools are active and how much money has gone into them. Or seeing Ferrod Madeec, the current Chief Financial Officer, putting money into whatever betting pool he is interested in. The Board members overall are open and mingle often enough with the employees that there is at least not too much fear or apprehension when approaching any of them.
(As a side note, Albert and his wife tends to not actually participate in the betting pools, but are noted to sometimes do actions that favor one outcome of the pool depending on which amuses them more.)
Overall, despite whatever reputation the company has outside its walls, the legions of employees that work for the company itself are generally very happy and loyal. If pressed, they will shrug and state that despite whatever reputation they do have, it cannot be argued that they don't get work done and done well.
Anyone else can quietly go "walk off a tall cliff."
