its just so crazy to have two characters immediately have bantering chemistry and intrigue and who is this loser, with intense longing eye contact every time they have anything close to a moment, self sacrificing within weeks of knowing each other, unprompted declarations of devotion, acts of devotion hidden behind a title and being reared by a king enshrouded in conspiracy and hatred, and then spend all 5 seasons letting them cross every boundary for each other EXCEPT the big bad secret that any show with better writers would have revealed by season 2 or 3 so we'd have time for the angst and betrayal and eventual come around that would have given us gay kisses or an unbearable closeness that might be worse than just the hints and jokes.
