Remember a couple years back when I stumbled across Korean company Young Toys’ transforming-vehicle Tobot line? Rad, complex car-combiner bros whose desirability was only offset by their significant import cost. Well, it happened again, this time with the same group’s ‘Geo Mecha’ line. These would seem to be animal/robot converters, with an extra ‘emblem’ mode sorta thing, and their own share of crazy huge combinability. And they’re regularly available through online retailers, costing way too much but looking SO nice.

The dino-guys Pterastorm and Tyrannotooth (amazing names) are the ones who caught my eye initially, down to their silly lunchbox modes. There’s some very Zoids sensibilities going on with their animal forms. But these things also come in all shapes and sizes, from raptors and stegosaurs to non-prehistoric choices like caimans and rhinos, and combining eagle-things. They’re neat as hell to look at, and price aside, might make some solid alternative choices for any people I know are out there put off by how homogenized some of Hasbro’s transforming robots have gotten to be. It’s cool to know other companies are still out there tackling this type of material.
