I just found one of my childhood favorite shows on youtube - it’s still so good!!!
I don’t think it has been dubbed in English, but you can watch it with subs here (it’s Secret of Cerulean Sand in English). It’s a Korean-Japanese production, 26 episodes of ~25 minutes, one continuous story loosely based on two novels by Jules Verne. Recommended!
The main character, Jane Buxton, is a ravenclaw cutie engineer nerd from a rich and noble English family. She has a passion for machinery and dreams of making a flying machine one day (if you like STEM ladies...). She shares this dream with her older brother George (another ravenclaw lil’ cutie). Her other brother, William (adopted), is a sad, sad, lil’ slytherin with Mommy issues. Family drama happens, George leaves on a quest in Orient to find azurium (the “cerulean sand”, which he believes could be the key to building flying machines) and William disappears. Later, her father receives a letter saying George was executed for treason. Jane doesn’t believe it and leaves on an adventure to find him.
The whole show is about sibling love and rivalry, friendship and following your dreams. It’s sweet, touching, engaging, and keeps you hooked up with its mysteries (or at least, it kept me hooked up! I didn’t get to finish it when I was a kid so, idk, I just had to see the end - nostalgia going strong!).
For Avatar fans: Jane has Sokka’s genius, Aang’s energy and gentleness, plus Katara’s hope, compassion and determination. George is professor Wei from The Library episode mixed in with the mechanist. Sabri (travel companion) is some sort of Alladin!Toph. William is Zuko, Kuvira, Tarrlok and Noatak - all in one person (a sweet sweet mess).
