For the sorcery ask game; ❌😱💫📚📜🏔🤲🗓 and 🧩 if that's not too much (I am kind of interested in everything that is unknown to me)
Oooooh my darling pet. It's not too much. Nothing is too much for you.
Here, since you bequeathed your ask so nicely.
❌- Tell us about a time your spell-work totally failed.
I once was so terribly successful in creating a stone that hid me from the sight of others, leaving me isolated and unnoticed, that I was forgotten by my caretakers at a train station.
😱 - Tell us about a time magic scared you.
When I first experienced total bodily possession. That was, I think, genuinely the most terrified I have ever been.
💫 - What is a piece of magic you learned as a child (it doesn't have to be serious) and still think about or use to this day?
Picking up the dirt from where your enemies have walked...
Also making straw dolls. Oh everyone should know how to make a doll from straw...
📚 - Tell us about a book that strongly changed or shaped how you think about magic.
My aunt's grimoire is one of the most influential books I once possessed. Posthumously I was allowed to read it but not keep it. I commemorated so much to deep memory. Her perspectives on mindfulness were critical in shaping how I approach most situations, objects, or spirits.
📜- What's your go-to reference text for spellwork?
I do not have one. I spent so long learning how to utilize materials at my disposal that I really only ever reference my own notes when I create new formulae. My work is 98% creative inspiration. Rarely do I follow external formulae unless I specifically would like a spell or ritual that is pre-recorded in personal or familial texts.
🏔 - Have you ever made a pilgrimage of any kind? What was that like?
I have. I hike often to many places that are critically empowering, connected to various spiritual residues, essences, strata, or provide anchor or release points topographically speaking. But some of the most intensive ones I have done were while I lived in Japan. And were the most impactful on my work. Walking. Walking to where you need to go is an experience in sensory connection and awareness. You are consciously pulling yourself towards a force. You are connected to the road and the force of "journey" and the "path". You are not static. But dynamic. That movement forward is profound. Every step is a change in your physical and spiritual being. You're allowing transformation to happen and being conscious of its processes is comforting.
🤲 - How do you distinguish between magic and prayer? Do you factor thaumaturgy into that distinction?
Yes. But this is a clinical answer rather than a personal question for me. Definitions are a tad finnicky, but there is a difference between Prayer and Magic. And Magic follows under Thaumaturgy for me.
This is largely impart to how a practitioner may view their intent, method of execution, outcome, and reciprocity of that expectation.
Allow me to explain. Walk with me
There are several factors to keep in mind. These are the Source of Power (What is fueling the expected results), the attitude of the practitioner (Through the source of power, how is this executed), and then the Expected Outcome (What is the factor in which determines results or proper execution?).
Processes of Magic (Applies to thaumaturgy):
Source of Power: Magic utilizes an internal process or the "Will" of the practitioner to execute the formula and obtain results. It is through this ritual and formula that the magic is executed. Again, Thaumaturgy applies this principle as well.
Attitude of the Practitioner: Magic utilizes Formulae and Structure as well as an internal process or the "Will" of the practitioner to execute the formula.
The expected Outcome: The desired results are expected to occur if the proper formula, ritual, or technique is executed correctly. The focus is on the mechanical process.
Source of Power: The Source of power is external. The power resides solely in a higher being (a deity, or spiritual entity).
Attitude of the Practitioner: The execution of this energy is through Supplication and Submission. The act is a petition or communication, asking a deity for help with the condition, "Thy will be done" sort of idea. You are invoking the essence and will of a higher power. You are not asking for sponsorship for the execution. A higher power is being petitioned to perform this task.
Expected Outcomes: These results are often conditional. The desired result is granted only if it aligns with the deity's will. The focus is on the relationship with the divine and the approval or disapproval of the petitioned supplication.
🗓- What's the next magical or religious obligation on your calendar that you can speak about?
Lucifer and I's anniversary.
🧩- What's one thing you wish that people who don't practice magic knew?
Mindfulness is accessible to everyone. Most true "skills" people develop in "magic" and Occult study are actually very normal everyday disciplines. Anyone can have these disciplines to improve their life. From breathing exercises to meditation. Mindfulness to self awareness. Speaking to your environment to taking care of yourself. Most of these qualities aren't as mystical as click-bait, shit-tock users pretend they are. Truthfully, they are basic lifestyle approaches that many people can benefit from. It's just that occult and spiritual traditions thrive well on forms of discipline and self care. So they are popularized through those thought currents.
You're always welcome to drop by, my pet. ❤️🔥
