Portrait of painter George Tooker (1920-2011). Together with Jared French and Paul Cadmus, Tooker's paintings can be understood as magic realism. Tooker, who also used the Renaissance egg-tempera technique to paint, focused on subtle social criticism and created fascinating and rich works. While sharing an atelier with French and Cadmus, Tooker became Cadmus's lover.
