The day before had been the single hardest day of his entire existence, watching the strongest woman he knew slowly leave this realm. The machines that kept her alive had slowed down, the beeping getting louder as it all ended and all he could do was stand there, watch, and cry. Thankfully he wasn't alone and not by any means, having four siblings and their father though it still didn't help. That night he just went home and cried, comforted by his wife and dogs, but he knew the next day he had to get up and get on with things and help be strong for his siblings. His head was in a fog and he suddenly found himself standing in the doorway of his childhood home facing the emptiness of it save for his father and older sister. "Hi," he was barely able to get out before breaking down.
