There was a hydrothermal explosion near the Sapphire Pool in Yellowstone National Park's Biscuit Basin today. No one was injured and the trail is now closed for repairs.
NOT a sign that the Yellowstone Caldera is about to erupt. Pressures on the super-heated fluids underlying the various geyser basins at the park can shift around and when the pressure drops too much in a spot, the water there flash-vaporizes into steam and explodes outward.
