Kiss in the Rain
It figures Seattle would throw the worst rainy weather it could come up with at you, right on the day you decided to finally invite Jane for an afternoon out.
You get to spend some quality time with her at the cafe from time to time, when your shifts overlap and she comes to chat with you in the kitchen during the quiet hours. And while that's all fine and good, you still want to show her your whole world - as well as see how she's been - after the long decade since the events that changed your lives for good.
So today you've both planned to free your time to spend it with each other, and you're eager to see her reactions to everything.
Showing her the apartment comes easy. Icarus and Cloud adore her, and you'd never thought you'd see a younger version of your grandma ever sitting down by your windowsill, complimenting Jade's plants.
The way to university is longer, but she still revels in everything - your enthusiasm most of all - as you show her your favorite places to eat, the park you lounge on in the weekends, your favorite grocery store, the entire campus.
You have lunch there, idly chatting about everything and nothing, and it's only then that it starts pouring - how funny that you are all dressed up and forgot your umbrellas.
You wish you could have a little more power over the weather, but you're certain that if you suddenly whipped up a whirlwind to rush all the rainy clouds away, people would notice. So instead you try your best to repel the water drops from hitting her, the benefits of a tiny bubble of air around you.
You groan in frustration, whining apologies, but she's having none of it.
Catching you by surprise, she winds her arms around you and pulls you into a hug, permanently ending the protective bubble around her.
But she doesn't mind, grinning and chuckling as she gets soaked.
Getting on the tip of her toes, she presses a warm kiss right on your cheek.
"Thank you so much for today, John. And don't be silly, we had a perfect time. Now let's find the nicest place to push you into a puddle before you get me home."
You giggle in reply, sheepish, following her wherever she might lead, the rain falling merciless yet wonderfully all the way.
