The picture: Sur la route d’Anacapri (On the Way to Anacapri) - 1922 (Gerda Wegener) is the story of Gerda Wegener and Lili Elbe. Hollywood has seized on the story of Lili and Gerda, and know for the famous film 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭.

Fun fact: there’s a theory that Gerda was actually a lesbian and that this part of her encouraged Einar’s transition, while at the same time feeling guilty for ‘killing’ Einar by helping Lili come to the surface.
Did I say fun fact?
I meant slightly depressing fact that makes you realise how many hugs these two needed (In case the movie didn’t do that for you already).
The Danish Girl Opening the film is a marriage of two artists, Einar and Gerda in an apartment filled with paints and paintings in the Danish city of Copenhagen in the early years of the twentieth century.
