Garden log 6/3/20
This has been sitting in the drafts, and I had to check the date bc those latest planted tomatoes have SPRUNG up in the twelve days since I got them in.
Anyway, belated garden update. The spring onions were (and are) bountiful, the carrots beginning to produce actual carrots, and the lettuce and peas looking sad. I have since pulled those out and replaced them with chard and lima beans.
That middle bed between the two raised ones is never going to amount to much. A couple of the tomatoes in there are ok, so I'm going to leave it alone, but for the next planting it needs serious work. Soil improvement and raising the level am inch or two, I think, so rainwater won't pool there.
The greasy beans are coming along. I had to thin them out some. They, and the tomatoes, need supports. The potatoes seem to love the heat. Can't tell what the sweet potatoes are doing.
New tomatoes planted this day: Cherokee Purple along the back fence. Two German Johnsons in between, and six romas in a row coming forwards. I think that's it. This makes somewhere between 25 and 30 tomato plants total, depending on how I count some of the sad ones.
