Dangerous Agent Posed as Son of British Naval Officer

A German posing as the Australian son of a high British naval officer has been arrested in Toronto and sent to internment camp, police announced today. The arrest was made over the week-end by R.C.M.P. and city police who had the man under observation for some time.
Police investigation, however, has disclosed the man’s father is a captain in the German navy. The prisoner comes from an aristocratic German family, as indicated by the prefix ‘Von.’ which police say is his right name.
The man, they said, is a German who arrived in Canada six years ago shortly after Hitler’s rise to power. Police say he was one of the most dangerous Nazi agents at work in Canada. Recently they claimed, he tried to join a unit of the C.A.S.F.
He had, they said, a smooth and pleasing personality, cultured English accent and pronounced ability for making friends. He had many of the latter, including several prominent Torontonians.
To them he always was careful to refer to his suppose high ranking naval officer father. He told them he had graduated from a famous English public school. His name was Anglicized and his speech showed no trace of German accent, they said.
In addition to the man arrested over the week-end other Germans who had been interned and later released have again been placed in camp, it was stated.
