series masterlist.
Peter fell through the sky, trying to grasp onto anything. He folded his fingers onto his palm to shoot webs, but he only got the sound of an empty trigger. As he descended closer to the ground, he braced for impact. He got what he was preparing for, but it was softer— not the hard concrete of Park Row.
"Oh fuck!" Peter felt all over himself for damage, not realizing there was someone underneath him grumbling. He stood up slowly, taking in his surroundings and slowly scanning his eyes down to the sidewalk.
"Oh my god! Are you okay?" He knelt down to the girl on the ground who was holding her head with her eyes shut. "Did you just fall out of the sky?" She asked, practically shrieking at him.
"I- yeah.. are you hurt?" Peter could hardly breath looking at her, how could he not when she was gorgeous. "A little-" she finally opened her eyes, and after adjusting her eyes she stared at the boy in the red and blue suit. "What is this, a prank?"
Peter looked down at himself and back up, and his shutters widened. He pulled her up and into the nearest alleyway, ignoring the dingy lighting. "That's a good costume, but next time maybe don't try jumping off of a roof in it- your web shooters are fake." The girl held onto his forearm concerned, staring at him like he was a carnival act.
"What are you talking about?" Under his mask, his face was pure confusion. "Do you need me to call someone?" She pulled out her phone, and he immediately swatted it away. "What was that for?"
"Who are you? Don't take pictures of me! Oh god, Tony is going to kill me." The girl furrowed her eyebrows, staring at where her phone was now shattered on the ground. She picked it up and looked at him like he had a third eye. Or like he was a man dressed up as Spider-Man who dragged her into an alley and broke her phone.
"What is wrong with you? Do you know how much this is going to cost to replace?!" Peter tore off his mask in panic, finally able to breathe without sweat clinging to his skin. "Oh I'm so sorry! I panicked!" He reached out to hold onto her hands, which were cradling the phone.
She looked up at him, and her orbs and her eyes widened. "You- you look just like him.. holy shit.." Peter looked at her confused. "Do you.. go to Midtown?" The girl clung onto her phone for dear life, her mouth dangling open. "Midtown- like from the comics..?" Now Peter was really confused. "What do you mean the comics?"
"Is your name Peter Parker..?" Peter stumbled backwards. "How- how did you..?" The girl muttered a few things under her breath, that not even Peter could hear. "What did you say? You're freaking me out!"
"Holy shit you're Spider-Man! Oh my god, this can't be real." The girl paced back and forth in the dingy alley, the shallow lights flickering. "Care to fill me in?" Peter played with the hem of his mask. "If it's about the phone, I'm really sorry! I'm sure Mr. Stark can get you a new one!"
"It's not that- sorry, I'm just trying to comprehend what the hell is happening." The girl threw the remains of her phone in the trash, brushing off her hands from the shards. "Can you at least tell me your name? I just revealed my whole secret identity to a stranger, it would kind of ease my nerves."
"Right! Of course.. sorry!" The girl wiped her palm on her jeans, outstretching it to him. "I'm Y/N Wayne." Peter shook her hand, beaming at her. "That's a cool last name! What I'd give to have the last name of someone from a DC comic!" Y/N furrowed her brows, which made Peter drop his smile. "Oh.. do you not like comics? Do you get that a lot? I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to offend you!"
"No! You're okay.. Peter, you're not from here.. are you?" Peter peeked outside the alley, at one of the busiest crime points in Gotham. "No.. Doctor Strange told me he was sending me off to New Jersey.. never been here.." Y/N rubbed the bridge of her nose, taking a loud exhale. "No- you don't understand. Come with me." She grabbed his hand to pull him out of the alley, to which he planted his feet. "I'm kinda in my suit.. I can't just go out there without my mask on."
Y/N turned back, letting go. "Right! Of course, sorry.. we can take a lesser known path if you want.." Peter nodded and put his mask on, and they stealthily walked to Wayne Manor, Peter's eyes gawking at the mansion. "This is.. just like the Batman comics.." Y/N nodded and snuck him through the gates, bringing him to the side of the mansion. "Wait here and hide, I'll call down to you when I'm ready to pull you up."
Peter grabbed her arm as she turned, quickly pulling away when she looked at him. "Sorry.. why do I have to hide?" She looked around before moving closer to him. "So my family doesn't see you.. I'll explain, I promise."
Peter waited while Y/N walked around to the front of the house, taking another few minutes before opening her window and calling out. "Peter! Up here!" Peter looked up and saw her looking back at him, her arm waving him up. He scaled the wall with precision, landing in her room after a few moments.
When he landed in her room, he took in the sights. He saw awards and ribbons, posters plastered on the wall of a variety of movies, comics and movies filling the shelves. He felt as if he was in his own mind, entranced in her interests they seemed to share. One shelf stuck out to him in particular- Spider-Man comics.
"What's this..? Why are there comics of me?" Y/N took the comic from him, the protective cover wrinking slightly in her tight grasp. She eased up and placed it back on the shelf. "Peter, you're from a different universe." His eyes widened, and his jaw went slack. "What do you mean?"

Batman and Superman haven't revealed their identities to the league yet, but they know each other's. One day during a meeting Superman suddenly says one of his kids is sick and he has to leave. The rest of the JL are surprised he has a kid (multiple?!) and haven't mentioned them until now. Meanwhile Bruce is trying not to panic because he knows it's one of HIS kids that are sick, but it'll raise suspicion if he leaves as well.
Love how early Daredevil EPs are just Foggy and Co. wondering where their beloved blind friend is and assuming he couldn't have gone far only for it to cut to Matt dragging his mangled body through some blown up warehouse
Peak secret identity comedy that other superhero shows wish they had

“I got it! I’ve finished it! Finally!” You called as you ran through the hallway of The Daily Planet and headed for your desk. “Oh, my God. You have no idea how long this took me. You know how I had that appointment with the security detail for Luthor Corp? Well-”
Despite your long winded explanation about how you finally managed to finish your article just before the deadline – even after you lost a source, found another, lost them to Luthor and finally found your original source. Lois and Jimmy couldn’t concentrate on anything you were saying.
“Uhh, Y…Y/n?”
“I know, right! Anyway-”
“Do you think she knows?” Jimmy whispered to Lois.
“Doesn’t matter if she knows,” Lois said. “Can you get her to sit still long enough for me to clean it?”
Something you’d failed to notice since running from…wherever you were running from, you had a gash on your head which was still actively bleeding.
“Oh, my god,” you laughed. “You should have seen his face. It’s probably made me enemy number one with Luthor now, but-” You began cackling, holding onto your printed pages.
“You grab the rope, I’ll grab the first aid kit,” Jimmy told Lois.
“Okay, sweetie? That is amazing, but we’ve just gotta-” Lois eased you to sit down on your desk. “There we go. Jimmy!”
“Coming!” Jimmy called as he ran back across the floor, passing Clark on his way.
“But this is so cool! Hey, Clark! Check it out! Front Page!”
Clark smiled at you, nodding, holding up his own copy. “It’s great, Y/n. I’m- what happened?”
Lois sighed, trying to keep you looking at her long enough for her to clean your wound. “Clark, please, get her to stay still?”
Leaving his things at his desk, Clark stepped over the pile of files at the end of your desk and helped Lois out of your mini maze before tilting your chin up.
“Hey.” Clark smiled.
“Hi.”
“Mind if I clean this?”
“Clean what?” Clark watched as total confusion took over your face before you reached up, touched blood, and winced. “Ow.”
“What happened?” He asked you before he started gently cleaning it.
“I don’t know.”
“Let me rephrase it,” Lois cut in. “Where were you this morning?”
You thought about it for a moment. “Uh, well, bus stop. Coffee shop. Newsagents. Oh! I tripped.”
“Where?”
“At the fishing docks.”
“Why were you at the fishing docks?” Clark asked, slowly.
“Because I got a call,” you explained.
“From who?”
You shrugged, looking back to your paper but Clark forced your head back to look up at him. “I don’t know.”
“Don’t you have a caller ID?” Jimmy asked.
“They called my house phone.”
“You have a house phone?” Lois asked before you and Clark replied, “You don’t?”
Shaking your head, you laid your paper on the desk and let Clark finish up on your wound. “Besides, they called from a payphone. Which was down at the docks.”
“Did you see anyone when you went?”
You shook your head. “No. There was a note taped to the top of the payphone saying to meet inside the old boat house. It was dark, I tripped, then someone came out from the shadows. Apparently there’s something odd going down around the docks.”
“Since when did we have docks?” Jimmy asked.
“Then they congratulated me on the paper.”
“That’s how you found out you were front page news?”
You smiled, “Yeah! Isn’t it great!?”
Clark smiled at you before you picked the paper back up and stared at your name before reading back through your article. Ever since you were little you’d waited to see your name as a by-line on the front page.
“I think you should get checked at the hospital-”
“I’m fine, Clark.”
“I’ll go with you,” Clark said. “Grab your coat.”
“I didn’t bring one.”
“It’s freezing outside.”
You shrugged. “I got up late.”
Clark sighed a little. “Let’s get you to the hospital.”
Twenty minutes later, you were filling out forms inside the hospital waiting room. Clark was sitting beside you, turned towards you. You could feel his hand brushing your hair out of the way of your wound.
“Does this print look smaller to you?”
Clark looked. “Looks…the same as always. How often are you here?”
Before you could answer, a nurse appeared in the hallway with a deep sigh. “What happened now?”
“I tripped at the docks.”
Clark read her name badge.
“Well, you better come through then. You the boyfriend?”
“What?”
Clark watched as your eyes went wide. “Oh, uh, no- no. Millie there is no- he’s not. This is my friend. And co-worker. Clark.”
“Kent? The reporter?” Millie asked.
Clark just smiled and nodded. “Lois and I cleaned it up as best we could but she’s a little…”
“All over the place?” Millie asked.
“Not usually!” You called.
“Well,” Millie smiled looking between both of you. “Clark, the co-worker, you better keep hold of her hand and follow me.”
“He doesn’t need to hold my hand,” you told Millie before turning to Clark. “You don’t need to hold my hand.”
Instead, Clark just smiled as you before taking your hand in his and leading you down the hallway. “Nurse’s orders.”
Millie smiled before turning away and leading you into a small exam room.
“You did a good job,” Millie congratulated Clark on his medical work. “But,” she hissed. “You don’t need stitches, but I am gonna glue it shut. What the hell did you fall on, honey?”
“I don’t know. Some…fishing equipment? The heel of my shoes got tangled in the nets.”
“Next time you go searching through fishing docks at seven o’clock in the morning,” Millie began. “Take Clark with you. Who knows, he might just be quick enough to catch you before you fall.”
“Millie,” you warned quietly.
“What?” She whispered as Clark was preoccupied with reading the medical chart on the wall. “He’s cute. I know you said you didn’t want to, what was it? ‘Ruin the friendship’.”
“Millie.”
“But, honey, look at him. Tall, handsome, strong. Those broad shoulders, that jaw line, those eyes.”
You wanted to die.
“Why not ruin the friendship?”
Suddenly, there was a crash of medical equipment.
“Sorry,” Clark apologised as he quickly picked up the pieces.
Okay, you were dead. You knew Clark had a freakishly sensitive hearing ability so there was no way he didn’t hear Millie.
“Okay, all done.” Millie told you.
An hour later, you were at your desk, trying to force yourself to focus on your work instead of the fact you could feel Clark’s eyes burning a hole into the back of your skull.
Ruin the friendship.
You’re…co-workers. You work together. You’re friends.
No. Don’t ruin the friendship.
Thankfully, saving you from a full day of panicking every time you walked past Clark’s desk to get to the coffee machine, another call came in from the fishing docks.
A week later, you were finally able to put a face to the mysterious figure that watched you trip and fall, gave you your front page print and congratulated you. Which just so happened to take place the same day you were saved, for the first time, by Superman.
Gerald, the mystery fisherman who was in need of your help, had just shown you around the new fishing docks which were being built, only, they were nothing more than a front of some kind of new start-up company that had been given a $6 million grant from the one and only Lex Luthor.
It just so happened that on the tour, a new and more psychotic figure decided to charge at you and throw you off the roof.
“It’s okay, I’ve got you.”
In your head, you recognised the voice. Clark.
But when you opened up your eyes…
Superman.
You couldn’t speak.
The super-hearing. The all-knowing what’s happening in a different room. The speed that he could type. The disappearing acts.
The interviews.
“Deep, slow breaths,” he told you when he set you down on the roof of The Daily Planet. “You’ll be just fine.”
You nodded, but you still couldn’t speak. There was nothing but ringing in your ears. Five minutes or more passed before you heard another noise.
The heavy swing of the roof door.
Then Clark’s voice.
“Y/n? You up here?”
Turning the corner, he found you. And you started walking towards him. “Hey, Jimmy told me-”
You pushed him. And, whilst he was still in shock, you pushed him again.
Without another word, you headed straight for the door and down the stairs. But, he was following you.
“Y/n! Hey! What’s going on?”
“Perry I’m taking the day.” You said as you passed your boss, but he was too inthralled in the layout of his article to say anything more than, “Okay.”
“Y/n!”
Clark followed you all the way back to your apartment. And when the door to your apartment closed behind him, you started pacing around your living room, trying to catch your breath.
“You’re him.”
“Y/n-”
“You’re him!”
“I-I know what this-”
“I’d ask how long but, Superman’s been around for, what, three years? So, three years? Right?”
Clark nodded and you continued rambling in anger.
“I-I don’t even know where to begin. What? Were you just having a nice little fly-by the docks? Were you following me?” You were still struggling to catch your breath. “W-w-w-what…what was that…this morning? What? Did you x-ray me to see if I had a concussion? Oh, my god, the vision! This is how you know what happened inside the locked office and- glasses? Seriously?”
Clark shrugged. “They’ve worked so far.”
“Sorry,” you apologised, briefly. “They-they suit you.”
“Thank you.”
“But seriously?! Clark!”
Clark nodded, a lot calmer than you. “Okay, maybe just…take a breath?”
“I don’t need to take a breath! I’m fine! It’s…Jesus.”
Hunched over, you tried to steady yourself.
“Deep, slow breaths,” Clark told you as he held your shoulders. “Maybe sit down?”
“I don’t need to sit down.”
“I think that you do.”
Letting Clark ease you into the seat behind you, you held your head in your hands. Meanwhile, Clark’s own ran up and down your forearms as he crouched down on the ground.
Everything raced around your mind. It had been a long week.
First the docks, then Ruin the Friendship – along with all the awkwardness that followed – and now…Superman.
All the voices, all the quotes and with the added smell of fish stuck in your nose, you felt nauseous.
Worse than nauseous.
“What? What is it?”
“I think I’m gonna be sick.”
Suddenly, on your feet, you made a dash for your bathroom. And, just as you suspected, you emptied your breakfast and lunch into the toilet bowl.
“It’s okay,” Clark rubbed small circles on your back as he held your hair back. “I’ve got you.”
After twenty minutes of quiet, one long hot shower and a cup of tea made by Clark, your head was a little clearer.
A little.
“I can’t believe you’re him.”
You’d never seen Superman up close before. But you’d seen Clark a thousand times. The fact the entire world didn’t already know baffled you. Because you knew him. Instantly.
“I’m sorry if I scared you.”
You just nodded, taking a long sip of your drink. You didn’t know what to say. The guy you had a crush on at work was the same guy that everyone in the world saw as their hero.
Clark Kent.
Superman.
The humble, if a little bumbling, Kansas farm boy was actually an alien from a different planet.
Internally, you sighed. Of course Clark Kent was an alien. No man could be that gentlemanly and such a man and be human. You’d been on enough online dates to prove that.
“Do you have any idea who tried to push you off the roof?”
“I’m not ready to talk about that yet.”
“Okay,” Clark nodded. “What do you want to talk about?”
“Nothing. Right now. My head…hurts.”
Clark nodded, “I’ll give you some space.”
As Clark moved your legs from his lap, you laid them back onto the sofa and shuffled down. Laying down, you watched as Clark picked up his jacket before leaning down and pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“I’ll come back in the morning with some pancakes.”
“Okay.”
For the rest of the day, and long into the night, you thought. About everything.
The fact that Clark had been lying about how he knew Superman. Everything that Clark had said and had been doing for the last three years. The injuries Superman sustained, but Clark rarely seemed to look hurt. Every now and again he’d seem a little hungover – which made sense when you thought about how badly Superman had been beaten up the day before.
You thought about what had been happening at work. The fact someone had pushed you off the roof. The fact that Super- Clark had saved you.
Then you thought about your feelings for Clark.
For a long time.
“Did you bring pancakes?”
Clark lifted up the bag. “And waffles.”
Letting him inside, you closed the door behind him before setting up breakfast at the table. And only when Clark was sitting opposite you, rather than beside you like usual, you started with your questions.
And he answered every single one.
“Are you still mad at me?”
You nodded. “A little. Finding out your friend has been lying to you for three years hurts. But, you’ve had a good reason. And, if I were you, I probably would have done the same thing. But the interview thing, Clark. As a reporter-”
“It’s unethical, I know.”
“Is this why you let Lois interview you?”
“She doesn’t know who I am.”
“Yet,” you added. “She’s the smartest journalist I know-”
“Hey!”
“You wear glasses as your disguise. If it were Lois, she’d do something cooler. But she’s gonna figure it out. I know I did. It’s only a matter of time.”
Clark just shrugged. “Well, it hasn’t happened yet.”
You scoffed. “Clark Kent: Ego man.”
“Hey.”
You chuckled. “Sorry.”
“Syrup?”
You nodded, moving into the seat beside Clark as he poured your syrup and you pulled his plate closer to yours to pour the extra butter and blackberries onto his plate.
“Have you figured out who pushed you?”
You shook your head. “Not yet, but I have a feeling it’s one of the security details from my last case. Similar build and all.”
Finally, for the first time in a while, you had a (semi-) normal day with Clark.
What I think is really fun about Billy Batson is that for everyone else, their superhero identity is their biggest secret. For Billy, his biggest secret is not that he's Captain Marvel, but that Captain Marvel is him.
Everyone else? Fucked if their loved ones find out. Fucked if their enemies find out. Billy? Fucked if his coworkers find out.
