Happy Halloween! 🎃👻To celebrate, we will feature the 10,000 German Mark banknote, also known as the “vampire note”! In 1922 at the height of Germany’s Post-WWI inflation, this banknote was printed using the painting “Portrait of a Young Man” by Albrecht Durer. Unbeknownst to anyone, the engraver altered the image to depict a long-nosed vampire with its eyes slightly closed on the neck of the young man (outlined in red)! This was done to symbolize the resentment Germany had towards France and the reparation costs they had to pay. #halloween #vampirenote #banknoteworld #germanmark #ww1 #happyhalloween https://www.instagram.com/p/BpnFoSLFLS-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1c1w2npsk36a8
