Shinmeisanso in Gero Onsen. This place is about a 30 minute drive from the main onsen area. Since it’s in the mountains, the air smells nice and woodsy. It’s so quiet that it’s relaxing. My first time having keichan in Hida. I’ve had it several times for school lunch when I was an ALT in southern Gifu and that was good, but this was excellent. The nice lady at the family-run restaurant brought it out to cook at our table. We’re staying at t!3 Hotel Kusakabe Arumeria in Gero tonight because Rakuten Travel had some excellent discounts. Gero is one of the top 3 onsen towns in Japan.
