Starter here x @gerudospiriit Basil w/ Nabooru
Basil's smile was soft. For the evening, she had taken down her hair and removed her outer tunic. The cool air of the mountains brushed her skin and played at the nape of her neck. All was finished: injuries healed, complaints soothed, Gale was cooking tonight, and she had meditated, then chanted, as much as she had the energy for. Yet, Basil found herself unprepared to turn into bed and so sought the edge of the camp. There, she found Nabooru who, for a tender moment appeared on the edge of some terrible thought. Her brown drawn and eyes darkened. So deep in thought that Basil, who was far and away from cunning, was able to surprise her. A bit of conversation sounded to Basil like a welcome respite from her own worried thoughts and fears. It seemed that the same motivation had propelled them to the edges. Everyday they trekked closer to the Shadow Cursed Land and the heart of this Cult of the Absolute; and all the dangers that both things brought with them.
"I think we could all use a friend, from time-to-time," Basil said. Her hands hooked behind her back, "I've met many people on my travels but it's rare I can be with them so long as to form a bond. It's been nice these past few weeks to... be with others. I've been alone so long, I've almost forgotten what it's like to journey with someone else."
Her gaze swept out to the horizon line, where the sun was pitching towards its final setting. Slipping below the distant mountains and ridges, where shadow laid heavy in the valleys below. A brilliant spread of pale pinks and darkening purples, softening into the diminishing yellow-golds. If Halsin's description of the Shadow-Cursed Lands proved true, and Basil had no reason to doubt him, then the beauty of these views would vanish behind them. No light, no sun rise, no warmth; only the coldness of black and oblivion. Would this be one of the last times that Basil watched the sun set? Only if death took her in the Shadow Cursed Lands and her resolve resisted that outcome. She could feel how the will of her god pulled her forward. Trepidation filled her, yes, but also conviction.
"I read a little of your home when I was younger," Basil said, glancing back to Nabooru. Instead of digging into the other woman's anxiety, she decided to give her the space she seemed to desire. "But the book was only concerned with trade and economics, perhaps a little history. It told me nothing of what life was like in the Gerudo Desert. I would love to hear more about where you're from."
