Sharing more anti-christian thoughts
It probably is the fact that the church my family goes to is majority white, but every time they make me go and the preacher starts talking about “staying strong against the oppression of christianity” I roll my eyes. Like wow you guys want to be oppressed so bad as if our government isn’t shoving it down our throats.
Every time someone my age or younger mentions being a christian, I’m not mad at them for it as long as it’s their choice, I just feel sorry for them. I remember as a teenager my younger cousins asking about a book I was reading only to tell me “that sounds evil, you should be reading the bible instead” or them telling me “oh yeah we don’t shop at that store anymore, they let men in women’s bathrooms” because a store was letting trans people use their respective bathrooms.
I honestly think the best thing I’ve seen about christianity/catholicism is the movie Wake Up Dead Man because the whole time I watched it, I was thinking about the fact that the way Jud was acting and his thoughts and beliefs about religion is what I wish it could be.
Sorry for the ramble, being raised religious and becoming atheist has given me Thoughts and Opinions
You're all good. I don't think any "brought up christian" person's relationship with the cult is straight forward.
I'm completely different. If someone's been groomed and is clearly trapped by circumstance, I am a lot more sympathetic to an extent. But if someone chooses it? I am less so. I see them choosing a hateful fairytale over me and the people I love; decent, real people who are harmed daily by the ideology. I don't understand why someone would actively choose fascist white supremacy unless it was to benefit them over someone else.
All choices have consequences.
It turns out the best way to stop doomscrolling is being forced to pet a cat.
STOP. STOP IT NOW. STOP STOP. STOP
So I started my period, awful cramps, and my cat immediately jumped on the bed when I laid down to lay on my uterus and start purring.
For those of you who don't know:
If I talk or act tense, sad, scared, or irritated, she immediately jumps on me and lays on my chest. Today, she chose to lay on and purr where the pain was coming from after sniffing and inspecting for the most tense part of my body and smelling where the aches and distress were coming from.
Cats, man. They are amazing. As it feels better, she moved to snuggle at my side until I was fully relaxed, then went to curl up and sleep in her favorite spot by my leg. If something's amiss, she refuses to leave my side until I'm 'all better.' When I'm upset or when I'm sick. She knows and she WILL heal me. She WILL keep watch. She will not leave me alone. She's done it for five other people. My mother, my big sister, my baby brother, my roommate, and my cousin. She's a blessing I am grateful for every day, every hour. Wouldn't be here without her. Cats are awesome.
going to the dog park and telling the other dog owners I like my cat more than my dog and watching their horrified and disbelieving expressions gives me much joy
Happy Caturday
