chat, just finished watching the thursday murder club after reading it (finally) and brother i deeeeply disliked the movie.
the book had heart and soul and so much complexity and nuance for the characters and how it all tied back to love. the movie makes these characters caricatures of their book counterparts.
i mean i could go on and on but the highlights - the movie makes elizabeth deeply unlikeable, unlike the charismatic playful woman with a mysterious past she was in the books. and ofc bogdan?!???? brother i loved him in the book! movie bogdan sucks. and ofc the biggest injustice of them all - pc (ma)donna de freitas - why did they make her this meek spineless thing in the movie?!?? where is her pluck and ballsy attitude?!?!? ughhhhh never felt so disappointed with a movie adaptation like this in a while.
ofc costumes and cinematography was good but what is a postcard from paris when you’ve seen the real thing?
tl;dr if u read the book, skip the movie and vice versa. you’ll ruin it for yourself if you watch the movie after reading the book. i want my 2 hrs back
