The overarching message was not "blindly follow orders," it was "have patience and humility" - it's a good lesson and one with just as much precedent in older star wars movies. The lack of either is what costs Luke his hand, after all. I agree that holdo should have said more but Poe was against her from the start.

Except the movie frame it as “poc must unquestioningly obey white leaders with no criticism even when said leaders act in ways that to all appearances are treasonous and if they don’t they come to a bad end”

It isn’t about being humble.- It’s about white people having the right to treat people of color however they fucking want and still expect obedience and loyalty from them.

What Poe did was wholly justified and that the story ended up punishing both him, Finn and Rose for it a validating white dominance and a racist white bitch just shows what a white, racist liberal Rian Johnson is.
