In the run-up to our opening night on 24th July, we take a look at each participating artist. First up, Alex Foster...
ARTIST PROFILE - ALEX FOSTER
Before graduating next month, Foster juggled an illustration course at Middlesex University, formed his own clothing line (Get Better Clothing) and accumulated an extensive list of commissions along the way. Now he's about to release the summer 2013 collection of GBC, illustrate a children's book and exhibit in Coming Home.
What will your piece entail?
My piece is a cityscape of Margate beach and seafront. It's filled with details like fun little scenes, mini narratives and beach goers. I also love drawing big sets of buildings and various architecture so that features heavily in my piece. It will have the set of shops and restaurants along Margate's sea front, leading to the Turner Contemporary and up the Harbour Arm.
What's great about your hometown?
Margate has definitely been on the rise in the last few years, especially the old town. The new art galleries, cafe's and shops have definitely helped the area improve.
