Take care of the small details and the small details will take care of you. This saying can be stated in any number of ways. The point is this. Deliberate, precise application of the required resources will get you further than going "all out" or whatever cool guy notion. I don't know the originator but I was recently taught the phrase "End in mind". It speaks of what I always referred to as "identifying your target". You can not hit a specific target if its not been clearly defined anymore than you can plan to reach a goal without keeping the "end in mind". In the machining world we hit the target, the specified geometry and associated tolerances called out on a drawing, by keeping that end in mind and applying our skill set to select the appropriate order of operations and best available tools to meet that goal in the most cost effective way possible. This methodology can be easily extrapolated to any endeavour. Whatever your "trade", endeavour to be the best, improve daily and always boil everything down to its simplest state. Nothing in life is so complicated that breaking it down into a logical process and methodically following the steps wont get you there.
