As a potter in art school I acquired all of these prejudices against things I did not want to make, because it would belittle myself or something. But let me tell you it has been so great to be out of school and using my work more, and to be married to a very supportive and encouraging husband. So one of the forms I did not want to make was planters. Now I have a husband who loves plants and when he asked for pots I went big! I have loved watching these plants grow and can barely wait for the flowers to show up. Who knows I'm even open to and planning on making some yarn bowls. What prejudices have you had to let go of in your life? Oh these planters are about 2ft tall. They are coil built, and I have a time lapse video of making one earlier in my feed. They are fired in a reduction kiln with wax resist designs. I need to make more of them. Imagine a wall of like 20 of them...it would be pretty epic. #functionalceramics #lisayorkarts #planters #watchingplantsgrow #watchingmyworkgrow #getridofprejudices #alwayslearning #plants #iloveplantsinhandmadeobjects #theinstagramlab #tilinsiders
