it's the end of a shift, evident by the amount of nurses crowding around any landline they can find to hurriedly punch in employee id numbers to the drone of an automated voice message telling them that they had successfully clocked out. clover has split from her big group of fellow picu nurses, cnas, and choice imaging techs with an annoyed realization that she had parked at the opposite end of the hospital than the rest of them. the group teases her (she always does this) and reminds her to call security rather than brave the dark parking lot herself. clover begrudgingly cuts through the er, gives an empathetic smile to the day crew, and ducks through a back door to the fire escape way.
there shouldn't be any patients taking this route, so when she sees someone without a hospital badge or scrubs on, clover stops in her tracks. either this person was lost or evading attention.
"hey, are you okay?" she greets gently. fae is what crosses her mind. it would not be obvious to humans or the unpracticed supernatural being, but clover had been around the block and knew the difference between a beautiful mortal and a fairy. they could tell him that he's not supposed to be out here, but it seems sort of patronizing to dodge the obvious elephant in the room: two magical beings running into each other.
