Uh, Ryan Reynolds and Drake are Canadian A-Listers. Tessa may be riding the crest of a wave rn but she's not *that* famous. I agree with that other anon - what's wrong with being disappointed that beyond 2019, this sort of thing is all we have to "look forward to" from Tessa? It's a sad thing for some of us.
Look, I get it, because I peace’d out after Sochi, when I thought they were done and they didn’t have social media for me to keep up with them.
It’s totally cool if you’re not interested in what is going on in her life in terms of sponsorships/awards shows/gkp trips. You’re lucky because Tessa has social media now and you can casually keep up with her life without having to be fully invested in tumblr, blogs, etc.
But this message is pretty upsetting to me - Tessa is working on campaigns like Fitspirit/She Breaks Barriers, and yeah, she’s going to do sponsorships and red carpet events while her star is still hot - but saying this all we have to look forward to in her life? When she’s found a cause she’s passionate about and that’s empowering young girls?
That’s part of what really upset me about Genna’s article. Like Tessa died on the ice in Pyeongchang and her life is over now. She’s hit that peak and it’s all downhill from here.
How hypocritical would it be for me to say I’m excited for the future of Coach Scott and imagining him in the k&c at the 2026 games but to say “oh I don’t give a shit about what Tessa does with the rest of her life”?
Muhammad Ali was a three time heavyweight champion, but his life didn’t end when he retired in 1981. He has this quote:
I’m not saying they’re going to be Muhammad Ali, but like… there is a lot to look forward to. And to label her as just a red carpet c-list celebrity feels so surface level when they’re just getting started.
i wonder if i can find a way to go back..
