Hello, I'm sorry for bothering you... but I want to start to do my own clothes for s3 in Blender, where should I start? Do you know some good tutorials for meshing?
hello there :) It’s awesome that you want to dive into the thrilling experience of meshing!Unfortunately, I don’t know of a tutorial that covers really everything. Most of the time, you need to read several tutorials and piece the information together. In my tutorials section, I try to fill in the gaps and recount some tips and tricks and where to get the tools and plugins that you need to follow other people’s tutorials. I have learned to mesh 5 years ago and the tutorials I used back then were sparse, taught complicated methods that were stadards back then (now its a lot easier thanks to new programs like CmarNYC’s meshing toolkit. It is my favorite tool ever^^). I can’t do not recommend any of them to you now, they are completely outdated. If you haven’t made any CC yet, I would recommend starting off with some basic retextures to get accustomed to the file formats and how to edit textures. You’ll need to know this when you move on to meshing and it all can be very overwhelming, as there are a lot of new things to learn.
I have found good tutorials at TSR. The most in-depth one I know is this one by Ekinege! It uses an outdated tsr workshop version, but most of the stuff is still true! You’ll especially get an understanding on how to make the textures and what they are for.TSR has some pretty well-written tutorials, it is good to poke around and read those that sound helpful to you. This is the basic tutorial directory.I definitely recommend the Level of Detail tutorial, it is invaluable for creating the LOD’s (less detailed versions of your mesh that are used when viewing sims from a distance to save computing power).TSR also has a good database that explains the different file formats and its uses: http://wiki.thesimsresource.com/index.php?title=The_Sims_3_Textures
I myself am usually working with EA meshes as a base and mashing them together and modifying them to make new clothes. The people in the creator Help forum at modthesims are really great and have helped me through some problems. There, you’ll also find meshing tutorials, though most are a bit dated by now. It really helps to look at the answers other people have got for their meshing problems! You’ll learn a lot this way.I know I have :)A program that you’ll definitely need is TSR Workshop and it’s a good idea to have s3pe as well. (simply google them for the download links, but for TSR workshop, you’ll need an older version, because the newer ones are optimized for sims 4 and will most likely not work properly anymore for ts3!). Use this link to get the newest ts3 version of TSR Workshop.Check out this long post I made, it contains meshing tips and tricks:http://simlicious.tumblr.com/post/78947279334/meshing-clothes-for-ts3-important-things-to-knowIt covers how to setup some programs. It is all text though, so maybe a bit overwhelming at first. Be sure to read the part about the Milkshape plugins and blender export settings. Even if you use a third party meshing tool, you’ll need to finish/polish off the mesh in Milkshape. Also, as this is an issue that most new meshers encounter, chekc out this tutorial on how to fix neck seams in Milkshape.http://simlicious.tumblr.com/post/54022055297/fixing-gaps-and-seams-in-milkshape If you want more info on how to get started with Blender, check out this post: http://simlicious.tumblr.com/post/70649851348/hey-simlicious-d-im-trying-to-convert-some-slIf you would like to learn how to use Marvelous Designer, I can’t help you with that, unfortunately, as I haven’t worked with it myself.
I am open to private inquries about meshing problems. I’ll be happy to help you with specific issues you encounter. It should be a bit more specific than “how do I mesh this” though :) if you’re stuck somewhere/can’t seem to fix an issue and find no tutorial on how to fix it, feel free to contact me.Hope some of this stuff is actually helpful and not too confusing for you right now! It’s a lot to digest. Maybe some of my awesome followers have some links to more recent tutorials to contribute?
