Cover Letter Postwrite
Doing the cover letter, it was nice already having a resume to refer to. Knowing that I need an internship for my major, I decided to write a cover letter for a non-profit organization that I actually want to work at and offers internships. Knowing my work history, it was hard to word it in a way that made it sound like applicable experience. For example, most of my resume deals with the childcare industry. That does not translate well into a communications internship. However, knowing the company I'm applying for I was able to tailor to them because they deal with Group B Strep that is passed from mother to child.
I personally liked this assignment because it allowed me to gain a skill that I will use multiple times throughout my life as I begin my career in the field of communications. The part I liked least about this assignment was having to brag about myself in a way that does not sound convoluted. I know that to get a job you have to appear to be the best applicant, but actually putting that into words was a struggle.
