When I was 10 years old, I knew exactly how my life was going to go...until I was 18. This included everything I'd do and situations I'd face, but I didn't see past 18. Thought I would just die, and was surprised when I didn't on my 19th birthday. Every year after has been a pleasant surprise, and I'm grateful for it. Never thought I'd get to this age, or have such a cool life with so many amazing people in it, and I can't wait to see what the future holds. -5C but glorious......

So today we were up early as we had been told the power would be off between 9am & 5.30pm. Got the log burner going straight away to get some heat in the place as it was touching -5C outside. Got the stove kettle on and had a cuppa. Managed to get 2 slices of toast made before the power went off so one slice each then down to work. Despite the temperature it was an absolutely glorious day. Bright blue skies and the sun making the frost sparkle on the ground. Just as well really as we were working outside today. Well I say we….Steve was measuring and cutting the Kingspan and I was holding things and making tepid tea. Yesterday Steve had found it quite hard to get the straight cuts he wanted so last night he spent an hour in the workshop making a piece of kit, a guide, to make it easier for today as we wanted to get the insulation into the extension, with these temperatures it’s a bit of a necessity. Anyway….it worked a treat…. Prototype -Patent Pending ‘Jig 1a’ was a success. He is bloody clever. The walls in there now have insulation. Still loads more to do but today felt like an achievement. Tomorrow the lads are coming back to put on the roof across the kitchen/diner. Progress indeed….😃

For the longest time I bought the cheapest art supplies I could, only to find that when you invest in the quality supplies, your work transforms. From higher pigment colors to paper that works with your water (not against it) and allows you to create new techniques you didn't know existed for yourself. What I'm learning (*and still learnings) is to invest in yourself. To believe that you're worth the time/money/energy. I'm a saver, I worry about money, and I'm learning to let that go in hopes that something more serving will flow.
