Edwardes And Peshawar 2.0 Celebrates Entrepreneurship And Innovation

Edwardes College in collaboration with Peshawar 2.0 a social enterprise working to develop a start-up ecosystem in the city and to re-brand Peshawar as the most hospitable city of technology, design and art – celebrated global entrepreneurship week, yesterday. To create awareness about the importance of entrepreneurship, innovation and startups, this week is celebrated globally from November 17th to 23rd as the week of entrepreneurship.
Edwardes College, which is known for its enabling environment and for hosting and organizing such innovative events, kept its rich traditions alive. As part of this global initiative, on 20th November, 2014, Edwardes College hosted Dr. Faisal Khan who has a doctorate from the University of Oxford, is the co-founder of Peshawar 2.0 and Director at the Institute of Integrative Biosciences at Cecos University. He delivered a talk on “Unleashing Your Ideas Through Startups”. The session was very well-attended by the students of Edwardes College.
Faisal Khan emphasized that the students could need to come up with their own ideas and start their own startups instead of working 9 to 5 for someone, he reiterated that people coming from different educational backgrounds should interact more with each other in order to generate innovative ideas. He also mentioned that fresh graduates should try something new and choose a career other than the concentional paths in our society like Medicine and Engineering. He discussed how founders of business giants like ‘Apple’ started their business in a garage with only two people and with no finance as such and how it helped create the Silicon Valley startup legend.
Faisal Khan highlighted the fact that Peshawar 2.0 will help ‘anyone’ with fresh and innovative ideas to start their own small business and help them connect with potential investors.
Faisal Khan asked interesting questions from the students which they responded to with great enthusiasm and fervor. The students also asked questions to which Faisal Khan replied elaborately. At the end of the session the co-founder of Peshawar 2.0 and also a faculty member of Edwardes College, Salman Ahmad presented souvenirs to Faisal Khan.
The workshop was very well received by the students. Everyone, in the hall of 170 people, was oozing with excitement to hear such a thought provoking talk.
