Who do you ship each of the Grizzlies current roster with and why
thank you so much for this ask!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ i am so glad someone asked me this bc i get to talk about all the ships ive kept to myself lol.
ja/jaren, and gg&jaylen (platonic) are probably the ones i think about the most. but i also like gg/wemby and gg/scotty. and ones ive thought about but arent really my main ones rn (subject to change): gg/javon small, and jaylen/cedric.
I don't have any romantic ships with any of the other grizzlies rn unfortunately 💔 i honestly havent even heard of any other ships with anyone on the grizzlies besides ja, jaren, and like. a single ship with ty (ty/de'andre hunter). which is making me realize that these other grizzlies need some love!!!!! (and if a ship with any other grizzlies comes to me i WILL post. trust.)
explanations of why i ship the ships i mentioned above (long post... sorry):
ja/jaren: they were both drafted when the grizzlies were rebuilding in the late 2010s, and they had to carry the weight of being the next franchise players together. so i imagine that would bring them together. also jaren is good at reading people, so i like the idea that he knows how to handle ja when ja’s being moody lol. also in the middle of me typing out this post there's been a lot more ja/jaren content thats come out... like this interview where jaren talks about how he and ja have seen a lot together and how ja "changed his life." and this moment that happened between them during the most recent mem vs okc game. and also jaren doing ja's grenade celebration in that same game... 😭💔 emotional stuff happening with them man......
gg/wemby: gg and wemby were the same draft class and gg reallyyy loves talking about how good victor is (thats three different links/moments btw...) jrueships put me onto gg/wemby tbh so if u wanna know more i suggest looking thru their gg tag! (you might have to dig a bit for the gg/wemby stuff tho). also self plugging my art i drew of them
gg/spj: i like scotty’s chill personality contrasting with ggs silly energetic personality. i was put on by onesoong… their art convinced me… also they were just really good in 2024 summer league together and this clip of them helping each other up is really cute
gg&jaylen: they were so cute during summer league 2025!!! the lobs from wells to jackson made me so hyped!! and i love the way they talk about each other in interviews. jaylen said they were like two peas in a pod this summer, and gg talked about jaylen having grown man aura and about how grateful he is that jaylen entered his life 🥲 so sweet!! and gg has starred in a video about himself for jaylen’s brand, SLEEPNATION. i love them sm theyre so cuteee. ive thought about shipping them romantically but for some reason i just.. dont idk 😭 open to anyone who wants to ship them romantically maybe you could open my eyes
gg/javon small: i thought that gg biting javon's sleeve during summer league couldve been some weird courting ritual by gg. and javon seems pretty quiet compared to gg, so i like that kinda shy x loud duo lol. also i like this video of them competing building houses of cards.
jaylen/cedric: both went to wazzu and both went to d2 schools before transferring to a d1 school. ced said he really wanted to play with jaylen at wazzu but didnt get the chance to, and also one time cedric butted into jaylens interview to hype him up. and also LOOK AT THE WAY CED IS LOOKING AT JAYLEN IN THIS PIC!!!!!
i kind of like the idea that cedric coward—this super charismatic guy, first round pick, and highly praised prospect—was into jaylen—a guy who was a relatively unknown prospect and was a second round pick—before jaylen even got all the respect he has now. and now that hes on a team with him he gets another chance at showing his love!!! i had this story idea in my head where cedric VERY OBVIOUSLY was flirting with jaylen and jaylen was just completely clueless and thought ced was just being really nice bc hes a fellow wazzu guy. but EVERYONE ELSE on the grizzlies could tell ced was flirting and kept trying to get jaylen to notice.
that should cover all my ships that i personally like for the grizzlies i think? since you asked for ships for "each of the players" i feel bad only giving you ships for like.. 7 of the players 😭 i do have thoughts on pretty much all of the players on our roster but i just dont have ships for each of them unfortunately. there are also some other platonic relationships that i enjoy with the grizzlies players but tbh my love for those didnt feel significant enough to mention here.
these are definitely not all the ships out there that involve current grizzlies players but theyre the ones that i personally like and have thought about the most! so do not take this as a definitive list or anything... i do love all the grizzlies players on our current roster tho (and some on the past rosters too) and enjoy almost anything involving the grizzlies and their players!!!
