What We Know About Eternal Night Luce
(last updated 12/7/25!)
Eternal Night Luce is a variant of Luce, existing as essentially a temporary power-up during the Shadow Shimotsuna boss fight.
His All Out Attack finishing touch says "He who finds a friend, finds a treasure" in Italian.
Technically, “Eternal Night” is an unofficial translation of the name used in Chinese. The hint prior to him being added was “N”, which may have been intended as "Night", but the phrase actually used in Chinese seems to translate as "Eternal Night". For the time being, this blog refers to him as “Eternal Night”.
This post focuses on Eternal Night Luce's differences from the original Luce unit. Note that they are separate units, but cannot be used on the player’s active team at the same time. Notably, Eternal Night Luce doesn’t seem to be able to share weapons with Luce, unlike most other variants.
Eternal Night Luce was added to the game in Version 4.7.1, alongside Pioneer Soy, the Shadow Shimotsuna boss fight, and the end of Chapter 4. Much like Ceaseless Wind, this form allows him a different skillset, and is fueled by an intense desire for life, but is only temporary, as pushing himself like this is exhausting.
Of course, the player themselves can pull him from the gacha and continue to use him in combat however they like, like any other variant unit.
In the story, Luce and Soy are determined not to let Shimotsuna kill their friends, and their desire for life is described as going “out of control” much like Wind's did in Chapter 3. In Luce’s case, this change in power level manifests as a new skillset and appearance: Eternal Night Luce. While not being a Guardian like Pioneer Soy, a protective desire still underlies this transformation, particularly towards Wonder, but ultimately towards all of the Phantom Thieves.
Eternal Night Luce’s voice lines in-game and in-combat are similar to the original Luce’s, but tend to focus around how he can use this new power, as opposed to his regular abilities.
Eternal Night Luce uses Eternal Night Ghino in combat, whose appearance is similar to the original Ghino, but clearly distinct. Eternal Night Ghino is still categorized as a Bless type, and resists Bless while being weak to Nuclear.
Eternal Night Ghino is a Sweeper Persona, meaning he’s good at dealing with groups of enemies. His trait allows him to consume his HP to gain a "Dark Night Pact" (stacks up to 8), which buffs his damage dealt. Additionally, when he gains a Blessing, it becomes a "Dark Night Blessing", which still counts as a Blessing, but instead grants shield equal to 2% of his max HP for two turns (stacks up to 10).
His first bless attack skill hits all enemies, then buffs Eternal Night Luce's critical rate for two turns, and grants him two Dark Night Blessing (if his HP is below 40%, he gains an extra three Dark Night Blessing). His support skill doesn't consume his turn (and isn't considered a Persona skill), and grants him shield based on his attack stat for two rounds, as well as one Dark Night Pact. His second bless attack skill hits all enemies, dealing extra damage for each Dark Night Pact he has if Eternal Night Luce has at least 5 (consumes all Dark Night Pacts regardless), then heals Eternal Night Luce for 20% of his max HP per each Dark Night Blessing he has.
His passive skills buff Eternal Night Luce's attack stat for each Dark Night Blessing he has, and buff Eternal Night Luce's resistance penetration stat the lower his current health is (max bonus at 40% HP).
In combat, his melee weapon appears to still be a two-handed longsword, while his ranged weapon appears to still be a revolver. His Highlight is shown from 3:18 - 3:30 in this video, and it hits all enemies with a bless attack, dealing more damage the lower Eternal Night Luce's current HP is (max bonus at 40% HP).
His recommended card sets are 1) 9 of Coins (Gain) + King of Swords (Breakthrough), 2) 8 of Coins (Prudence) + King of Coins (Determination).
The game recommends teaming him up with 1) Marian.
Here's the Shouki trailer! It seems like he isn't getting a PV, I guess because he isn't a 5-star?
The "determination" to go all out to hone his acting skills A third-year high school student at Kiga High School. He is a stage actor and a member of Kiga High School's drama club. He has Italian ancestry and his parents are both well-known actors. Due to his outstanding appearance, he was reported by entertainment magazines and gradually began to attract attention.
They've also posted some more images!
What a perfect stage Shouki Ikenami has powerful auxiliary abilities. You can switch to the 『Improvisation』 state during battle to add different buffs to your allies. He can increase your allies' defense in battle and make them immune to mental abnormalities, greatly improving their survivability. After causing damage, Shouki Ikenami adds different elemental abnormalities to the enemy based on his own 『Improvisation』 state.
I remember Wonder being able to read books about Closer & Soy's persons, does Wonder ever get books about his other teammates personas? Should I keep checking the bookshop?
I just checked in-game, and there should be books for Janosik, Rob Roy, Awilda, Mandrin, Chiyome, and Ghino in the game! I don't remember when Ghino's was added, so I'm not sure if Global has it yet.
Rather than checking the individual bookshops (I think there are at least three- in Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Jinbocho), it may be easier to just check the books section in the online shopping menu (assuming you've started Mio's Synergy and unlocked it)? That should let you check what books are available across all the shops in the game at once, rather than running between them.
What We Know About Luce
(last updated 2/19/26!)
Shouki Ikenami, codename Luce, is a third-year student at Kiga High, and a stage actor in their drama department. He's very popular among the students at Kokatsu Academy for his looks.
Shouki picks the codename “Luce” after being told his codename should be something incredible/wondrous, but shouldn't be a Japanese word, and he thinks of how powerful and influential light is when it comes to depicting things on stage, leading him to choose the Italian word for "light".
His files are named with the codename "Enco" instead of his canon codename Luce. The exact significance of this, if any, is unknown. Similarly, his Persona's files use the name "Duval" instead of Ghino, but this just seems to indicate that his Persona was originally planned to be Claude Duval.
A separate version of Shouki (Eternal Night Luce) will be added in Version 4.7.1, and has a separate post documenting his combat information. Note that Eternal Night Luce likely cannot be on the same active team as Luce.
His Japanese voice actor is Takuya Eguchi.
Shouki is a Confidant of Wonder's, presumably available to start sometime after beginning Chapter 4 of the main plot, though his Confidant takes place after the end of Chapter 4. His Confidant focuses on his concerns about whether he should continue acting, given everything that brought him to it in the first place, as well as his concerns about his growing fanbase. More information about Shouki’s Confidant can be found here.
In the story prior to Chapter 4, Shouki first appears the day after Wonder awakens his Persona. Shouki happens to ride the same train that Wonder is taking to school, and Wonder overhears two gossiping Kokatsu girls refer to him as a “good-looking guy”, then recognize him as "Ikenami-kun". He doesn’t visibly react to their gossip in any way, and is only shown reading his book for the entire scene.
He later appears on the same train that Wonder, Ruferu, and Motoha are taking to Shinjuku, for their celebratory dinner after Kiuchi's change of heart. He shows no reaction to anything they say or do, and faces away from them the whole time.
Finally, in Chapter 4, he serves as the acting coach (as well as one of the actors) for the co-production between Kiga and Kokatsu's drama departments, a stageplay based on the Phantom Thief Family manga. As the Phantom Thieves get to know him, they also learn how Takami Shimotsuna has taken an interest in him, being the one who first filmed a rehearsal of his and brought him into the limelight. While Shouki doesn't seem to like her, he also explains that she's too powerful of a person to offend or ignore.
At the same time, he also reveals that he feels like an actor even when it comes to "being Shouki Ikenami", and is uncertain who he really is or how to be himself. He believes this is impacting his acting (based on comments both the rest of the Kiga High drama club, and Aran Hirano, have made about his performances), but doesn't know how he can fix this. Shun and Wonder try to encourage him to be himself more, and he seems to open up when having fun with them.
However, Shimotsuna gets increasingly bold, eventually getting Shouki a role (without telling him) as the protagonist of an upcoming webseries, and interrupting his rehearsal to essentially demand he drop everything he cares about to dedicate the next several months to this. Shouki tells finally Shimotsuna off, but she threatens to ruin his parents' careers, and he starts to second-guess after she leaves. This is cut off when Shouki and the Phantom Thieves are unexpectedly pulled into the Metaverse, eventually leading to a confrontation with Shimotsuna's Shadow, and Shouki awakening his Persona.
Shouki immediately joins the team, having been on-board for stealing Shimotsuna's heart even before his awakening. He later awakens his Eternal Night form due to his determination not to let Shimotsuna hurt his friends, during the final fight with Shadow Shimotsuna.
Shouki's game role less directly parallels any specific P5 thief's role, though one could argue there are elements of Makoto, Haru, and Akechi mixed in.
Shouki is politely friendly, though at first impression he can come off as a bit aloof. He suggests to Shun and Wonder that he's felt pressure since he was little not to cause trouble for his parents, which has led to his facade of someone who doesn't really rock the boat, and generally hides aspects of himself to avoid upsetting others. Much of his confrontation with Shadow Shimotsuna relates to this idea that he "lies" about who he is, playing a role rather than being able to be himself around anyone. Shouki also admits that he thinks he does this to protect himself, as well.
This facade fades as he gets more comfortable, particularly while having fun acting or spending time with friends. While it can take some encouragement for him to consciously let his guard down, he becomes much more energetic and engaged once he does so, and tends to use more Italian phrases in his speech (which he credits to his mother's influence). There's the sense that he was holding back and intentionally acting reserved before, compared to when he's relaxed and opened up more, though he's not a completely different person. After his Persona awakening, he resolves to be more true to himself in this way, and stop "lying" for the sake of himself and others.
Perhaps related to how the facade developed, Shouki is quite self-sacrificial, willing to give himself up if it means saving others. This manifests both in putting up with fans when he'd rather not, in order not to upset them, as well as more literally volunteering himself to Shadow Shimotsuna if she'll spare the Phantom Thieves and his parents. It seems like this is primarily because he can't stand to see the people he cares about hurt, but there may also be an aspect of his own sense of self-worth (especially prior to awakening Ghino), or even just the simple math of sacrificing one for the good of many.
In general, he demonstrates a deep care for those close to him. Though his parents' own struggles with being separated due to Shimotsuna destroying his mother's career may have influenced them, he still sees them as good parents, and repeatedly affirms that he loves them. He only worries about talking back to Shimotsuna once she threatens them, and learning that Shimotsuna is the one who ruined his mother's reputation in Japan a decade ago is what steels his resolve that Shimotsuna's heart needs to be changed immediately. Shadow Shimotsuna attempts to sway him by having her cognition of Shouki's mother lie to him, but this ultimately only fuels his retaliation against her.
Aside from all this, in general, Shouki is quick on the uptake, and good at reading people. He picks up Metaverse terminology and using codenames for the Phantom Thieves rather quickly, and only seems to struggle with aspects of it when they catch him off guard (for instance, Ruferu being a talking owl in the real world) or when they target his emotions (again, the cognition of his mother lying to him). The Phantom Thieves really only need to explain things once, and he also seems to quickly catch on to their concerns about a mastermind behind the scenes, and the potential threat that Aran could pose to them. In a Thieves Den interaction with Joker, Shouki implies that he's good at reading people because it's partially for his own acting reference. In general, his genuine love of acting seems to be the reason for a lot of why he is the way that he is.
Luce's Persona Ghino (based on an Italian outlaw and hero) is categorized as a Bless type, and resists Bless while being weak to Nuclear.
Ghino is a Strategist teammate, meaning he’s good at buffing teammates and improving their effectiveness, and his trait gives him four "Improv" states: Improv Osmosis, Improv Subversion, Improv Empathy, and Improv Presence, which he can switch between on his turn. When using a Persona skill to deal damage, he has a 75% chance to inflict the Improv state's corresponding elemental status effect on all enemies (Burn, Freeze, Shock, and Wind, respectively).
His bless attack skill hits one enemy, then grants two layers of Blessing to all teammates and buffs their damage dealt (based on Luce's attack stat) for two rounds; his first support skill buffs the defense of one teammate (based on Luce's attack stat) and makes them immune to Dizzy, Sleep, Confusion, and Forget, for two rounds (this skill has a two-round cooldown); and his second support skill buffs all teammates' attack stats for two rounds (based on Luce's attack stat), then has an additional effect on the skill's main target for two rounds, based on his current Improv state: Improv Osmosis buffs their continuous damage stat and effect hit rate, Improv Subversion buffs their skill mastery and damage dealt when dealing Technical damage, Improv Empathy buffs their critical damage, and Improv Presence buffs their penetration stat. His passive skills buff a teammate's damage dealt based on how many layers of Blessing they have, and buff Luce's attack stat based on his effect hit rate.
In combat, his melee weapon is a two-handed longsword, while his ranged weapon is a revolver. His Highlight is shown from 3:26 - 3:41 in this video, and it buffs the attack stat and effect resistance of all teammates for two rounds, and grants them each one layer of Blessing.
His recommended card sets are 1) 3 of Cups (Prosperity) + Queen of Cups (Trust), 2) 4 of Swords (Reconciliation) + Prince of Wands (Creation).
The game recommends teaming him up with 1) Messa, 2) Lion Dance Rin.
A Summer version of Shouki appears in the 2025 Summer event, though not as a separate unit or costume. His appearance:
