every so often he glances up at the glow of the clock on the dash of his old, beat up nissan. the time ticks by, the street lights come on, and he clutches his phone in his hand as he waits for his favourite part of the day - for her to come home. she would wander up to her room, maybe change for a shower, and then she would be his for the night. from a distance, of course. though not for much longer he tells himself, his heartbeat thudding as from the screen of his cell he sees her enter her bedroom and he can't help the smile that takes over his face. " there you are .. " he mutters to himself, settling into his seat and propping the phone up. " i've missed you. " dark eyes fixate on her tiny form, enjoying the way this felt. he was her protector, her unseen servant. she didn't know he was there, but he always was.
