What if Philip didn’t know that John was there watching over him, but he knows about John and so he writes John letters (Maybe because he found letters Alex had written to John, and so he started doing it to) And so John just kinda watches and reads over Philip’s shoulder about all the things that Philip only shares with him. And Philip like burns the letters to get them to John. And then John just like helps solve the problems Philip is having (And maybe Philip figures out that John’s there and John just starts kind of writing Philip letters back.

Or like Philip sees all the letters from/to John that Alexander had and just like sends John a letter one day (maybe asking John to come visit because Alex misses him) And John writes Philip back and so John and Philip just kinda exchange letters even though John is dead. And John still kinda helps Philip with his problems.
