Hailing from London and representing as part of the extended Unit137 / Tru Thoughts / Sharp & Ready family, Ghost Writerz are a creative force to be reckoned with.  Effortlessly covering a broad range of sound-system ready music in their scene-stirring releases and remixes, the Ghost Writerz epitomise the Jamaican Bass mission beautifully. As well as providing us an exclusive mix of dancefloor ready, bashment vibes, we also got a chance to quiz them.. as we do - heres what they had to say:

• Tell us a bit about your background in music?

Our background in music has been primarily in Bashment and Hip hop. For us the two have gone hand in hand from when we were all kids.

• Highest moments of your career/music journey so far?

As Ghostwriterz wilding out on stage with Rtikal and Serocee at the Love Box Festival. The place was tun over bredrin!

• How’s the ‘Jamaican Bass’ scene in your city/country and how do you see it pushing forward?

Our interpretation and favourite element of Jamaican Bass is Bashment that is the sound of the streets and party's in Jamaica and what we listen to here in our Cars and in the club.

• Any future projects/events we should know about?

As far as future projects go we are just finishing a release on Nice up records called Blast your Horn should be out end of summer..get ready for that.

• Your all time top 5 tunes?

Next question.. we could be here all day!

• Favourite food and/or recipe?

For us is Curry Goat or Pepper Steak....Oxtail can run too

While a majority of labels shift their focus on reissues (with no production costs) and live bands (with a simple old school business model: touring and selling merch), there still are a few out there who do the real job: digging "in the now", finding, signing new artists and releasing new productions. Brighton's finest Tru Thoughts is one of those and it's already been going on for 15 years now… Reason enough for Paris DJs to celebrate the label's 15th anniversary, by inviting four of their artists to do an exclusive mix, starting with UK Sound System Culture sensation Ghost Writerz. The duo is the first signing of Tru Thoughts brand new sub-label Sharp & Ready, designed to spotlight the "new wave" of artists on the UK sound system scene... "Sharp And Ready is the Sound System Culture arm of Tru Thoughts recordings. A platform for the New Wave of UK Sound System Culture, a coalescing of influences and heritage - from Reggae through Hip Hop and Jungle - and the distinct sonic and societal markers of our time, into something wholly new, carried forward by a growing contingent of passionate, talented artists and brought to you by one of the UK's most respected independent labels." (sharpandready.com) Besides Quantic & DJ Vadim, this mix was for us a source of a lot of new discoveries. Paris DJs is, obviously, based in Paris, and we don't have any (other) media about groovy music over here in France so it's hard to find out about new bands. The reggae/dub/soundsystem scene has always been big in the UK, but it has been years if not decades since it started getting THAT interesting again. This mix sets things right.
