And in that moment, my cockatoo feathers went up, and I looked in the mirror, and I realized my beak was not straight; my feathers were not perfect; and I wailed! I screeched my cockatoo cry! Kaw Kaw! Kaw Kaw! And I kept crying out enraged cries, my cockatoo cries! But my owner, my owner, they just threw a blanket over my cage, and I thought it was night, so I grew quiet in my lonely cage. Still filled with anger and hurt, I reached out my talons, and I scratched at that locked bird cage door, and I scratched! And scratched! Longing to be free, but I wasn't going anywhere, because I am a cockatoo stuck in my cage covered with a blanket.
