If you think about it Deceit probably knew Logan could be the one who shut him down and would dislike him for that fact. The fact that if ‘Patton’ said something toothrottingly sweet that Logan would pay much attention and not be able to figure out as easily that something was wrong.
Oh it was definitely an attempt to affect Patton’s general affection towards the others - a bit blunt and suspicious if the look Virgil gives him is anything to go by though.
It also wouldn’t surprise me if Deceit has a standing dislike for Logan because he deals in facts and truths.
