I've only known this blog existed for less than a week, but you're lovely, Frank! Something about your existence bothers me in a way I can't quite describe, but like, in a positive way.

Frank, how do I read horror without then experiencing the horrors? I am trying so hard but my constitution is so delicate and I'm going to be haunted by demons all night now.
Have you tried appreciating the demons rather than fearing them? Like, the demons are scary, but so what? Sometimes they are scary in the way a great movie is scary, or the way an exciting roller coaster ride is scary, or the way climbing a mountain for the first time and looking down to see how far you have come is scary.
Or the demons can be seen as lessons, though you can draw this comparison in many different ways. There are things about yourself that make you happy and things about yourself that make you unhappy. You want to feel more of the happy things and less of the unhappy things in life. So some things may make you happy, but if you are doing something that is making you unhappy and the demons are showing you this, it may be a good thing that you are learning about the unhappy thing.

If you could live in any world from fiction, what would you pick? And why?
No question. Tolkien's England.
Although the place he describes may not even exist in the sense of being possible, the place he describes sounds perfect for me. I would love to live on a farm, or a little cottage out in the woods. I would love to be able to visit and know the great capital city and still return to my little haven. I would love to grow my own food. (I think that doing this would be a huge challenge but an adventure, and I love adventure.) I would love to be able to speak with hobbits and other creatures. It'd be like living in one of those fantasy games but made real and permanent and sustainable.
There are many fantasy works I love, but they're all set in imaginary worlds or in imaginary versions of our own. I'm not sure if any other fantasy work could capture all the things I would want from Tolkien's English countryside. Middle-Earth is basically a stand-in for real England, a version of England made more magical and beautiful. There's no other place in fantasy fiction like this.
(I've never seen the Hobbit films. I haven't seen any of the Hobbit films.)

Sadly, I didn't find anything solid. Apparently pointy hats have a long, long history of being worn pretty much everywhere, so I guess there's a lot of places the hats could have come from. I think I need to start diving into scholarly journals to try and find a better answer.
(By the way, I think my favorite non-serious answer is this, where the hat is actually a shrunken cone of a sturdy material which, upon contact with an anti-magic field, will lose its size enchantment and fall on top of the wizard, shielding them from the anti-magic.)
