"I believe it would be best if you left now, Shepard."
Emilia stops as Kolyat appears in front of her. She had been walking with the Hanar who had been sent to retrieve Thane's body.
"Kolyat I-" She doesn't understand. The way Thane had described it it was a personal ceremony for family and friends, and considering her relationship with Thane...how could she stay away.
"You have other duties to attend to, I am sure. Duties that have to happen somewhere else." He is trying to be polite but Shepard can read the tenseness of his body language. When it appears that she doesn't understand he adds. "We will be observing the anniversary of my mother's passing along with his."
She feels like she has been slapped but she steels her features and nods. "Of course." She walks away, chest aching as she leaves the funeral of the man who made her feel.
It is Kolyat's right because she will never be his mother, even if she was the lover of his father.
MatriarchAethyta and Drtsoni
Aethyta is trying, she is, but Liara cannot reconcile.
Even if Benezia had kidnapped Liara, why had Aethyta never looked for her? What had ever happened to believing in family?
So when Aethyta asks her if they can go for dinner, Liara tells her another time. She does the same thing when Aethyta asks for lunch. Breakfast is of course out of the question and coffee is not something she would like to do.
All the pain and the heartbreak of being alone, it does not just go away. Not with the way the other wishes to suddenly act like nothing has happened. Aethyta is not her father except in the biological sense of the world and that does not a father properly make. So she makes excuses and pretends not to see messages.
But then there is a message she cannot ignore.
As she gazes at her father's body lying on the slab everything slams into her and she cries.
A gentle kiss to her temple. A hug when he thinks no ones looking, or even when they are.
His mask his cracked and broken but he keeps coming closer to her, gripping his scalpel. Such a puny weapon but she's already seen what he's done. So much carnage and destruction. His eyes are glowing blue. Indoctrination.
She should shooting him between the eyes but her hand shakes imperceptibly and she keeps trying to convince him to stand down. How had she let the little Quarian worm his way into her heart?
But he keeps coming and there's nothing she can do to stop it. He's not in there anymore. He's not-
Her fingers pulls the trigger and half of his head is gone.
