Is there a benefit to larviform females in bugs? Is it one of the "success because", or "success despite" situations?

Basically, foregoing metamorphosis (or the development and use of wings) means all the more energy they can put into producing eggs, so even in insects that do metamorphose completely, the female usually waits for the male to find her rather than vice-versa, traveling as little as possible and sending out pheromones for him to follow!
