I wonder how the Captain feels about Matthew Perry dying? Perhaps he would identify even more with him as someone who was knocked down in his prime, as someone who tried hard to better the lives of the people around him. Perhaps he would reflect on his own life and how Havers his friends would've felt about him afterwards, looking at their statements. It's just interesting to think about.

Hi! I have just recently watched BBC Ghosts for the first time and there is a plot point i don't quite understand in the s1 finale, maybe yiu could help me. The Captain tells Kitty she has to choose if she wants Alison to be happy, OR if she wants Alison to stay. I don't understand how that was a choice Kitty had, from her perspective? I would like to know which of the two options Kitty chose, in the end. I hope it's ok that i'm asking you this. If not, just ignore me!

So, the choice that Kitty was given (Alison being happy- eg: leaving Button House- vs Alison staying) was the Captain’s way of trying to get Kitty to tell Alison about the basement’s potential for a pool, and therefore revealing the plague pit.

It was Kitty’s choice because with this knowledge, she could either help Alison get a better deal on the house and be happy, or have them potentially lose out on the deal by a lot and have them stay.

At least- that was what Kitty thought. The Captain knew that the discovery of the plague pit would end in Alison and Mike staying at Button House, so he tricked her.

Kitty chose for Alison to be happy by leaving- she thought that telling Alison about the basement would help give her more money, because the hotel chain proposing to buy Button House would have to pay more. This of course backfired when the plague pit was uncovered, and Alison ended up staying.
